Our "Cation"

This weekend we decided to take what most of you might call a vacation, however, in our family it will now forever be known as "cation." We tried all weekend to get Connor to say it right, but it just wasn't happening. We also tried, without success, to explain to him that vacation is more of an idea than a place. He kept asking "Is this my cation?" We had to say several times that the hotel is just where you stay on cation and that all the fun is just what you do on cation...so here is the fun.

We went to the independent league Airhogs baseball game Friday night. Connor really wanted to "play ball like those big guys" but settled for cotton candy instead.

We started out with a very early train ride Saturday morning trying to beat the heat. Needless to say, with a high of 102 for the day...the heat beat us! (For those of you who know my aversion to water...or should I say drinking water...you will be happy to know that even I stayed hydrated!)

The next stop was the Fort Worth Zoo. The highlight there was Parrot Paradise. You were able to purchase a seed stick to feed the birds, and I have to say that this was probably the best dollar I ever spent at a zoo. There was no lack of birds to feed, and Connor, being the sweet boy that he is, never let one bird eat too much because he was worried that the others might be hungry.
He could not have been happier that this little bird actually jumped onto his stick!
The last adventure was "Putt Putt Golf and Games." We were disappointed that Connor was not even tall enough to ride with one of us in the race cars or bumper boats (but probably not as much as he was). He did play putt-putt...and true to form, he got two hole-in-ones. We spent too much money to play too few games and totally stressed D.K. out trying to cash in our tickets, but we made it home with a sack full of candy to rot out Connor's "practice teeth."
This is the only type of motorcycle either one of them will ever ride on if I have anything to say about it!

So Big

I can't believe how big Case has gotten in just the last month. It seems like he has changed so much and is doing so many new things. He has started pulling up to his knees, waving (or maybe saluting...but we will call it waving), and just Friday he started giving sloppy, open-mouthed kisses. Because of all this...it was virtually impossible to capture him sitting still. He is now 10 months old (time to start planning for his college graduation!).

Sandbox Fun

Believe it or not we actually had a day of sunny, warm weather when the wind did not blow 100 mph! I have loosened up quite a bit with number two. I am actually letting Case play in the sandbox. It was a task to keep the sand out of his mouth.

My disclaimer: please excuse the glare...this is a picture of a picture. D.K. is going to scan it for me on Monday so I can change it to a better image. That being said, this is Case's nine month picture.

Pizza and Potatoes

We went to Chuck E. Cheese's with the boys "sisters." Since D.K. has decided (and I have gone along with a little willingly) that we are not having any more kids, these are the boys sisters...
Lydia and Connor had a blast!

Case and Clara had a few quiet moments while the older ones were playing! I know that neither of them gets very many of these at home.
Case has had his first "big boy" food. It's amazing how much sooner you do things with the second child. I am not sure why I didn't think Connor couldn't have mashed potatoes, but he didn't have them until much later. I did make one tiny mistake...I didn't think about the fact that I put milk and butter in the potatoes, and I had to change some pretty nasty diapers. I really hope he grows out of this milk allergy thing!

Busy, Busy Boys

It was a lovely weekend! Daddy and Connor took advantage of the warm weather and washed the cars...Connor also washed the driveway. The entire task probably took twice as long as normal because D.K. kept having to re-rinse parts that Connor just didn't feel were quite clean enough!

This is why they put those warnings on the bouncy seats...you know the ones. "Warning...do not leave your child unattended in this seat. Always buckle the seat belt when child is in seat." Case was in the seat before I turned around!

Random Stuff

Is it just me, or does Case look way too small to be using a sippy cup?

Connor and I went to Disney Live last night with some friends. Connor in a Woody Hat:

They are both in such great moods in the morning!

So Cute!

These pictures are of Connor (obviously) and a friend of ours (McKenzie). Her mom is a photopragher and is using them for some advertising...to cute!

Case is 6 months old! It has been a bumpy road full of doctors and hospitals, but we have made it half a year. I can't believe how quickly it has gone (or that I am still having to wake up twice a night for feedings...isn't it time for him to give that up)! He weighs 13 lbs 2 oz. We almost made our goal of 15 lbs! I love to see his smile and hear him laugh!

Thanks Daddy!

Connor Classic:

After Connor's bath while putting him to bed
Mommy: Mmm...you smell so good!
Connor: (sniff sniff) You smell like crap!
Needless to say...I absolutely lost all parental and discipline skills on the spot. After regaining enough control to talk and wiping the laughter tears from my eyes, I asked where he learned that..."Daddy."
